Melville Mural

Steph from Studio Meraki worked with community groups in Torquay to co-design and paint a large mural on Melville street. Working in collaboration with Groundwork south, Steph facilitated a number of workshops supporting the community to decide on themes, shapes and colours for the mural. Kerry joined Steph for the painting of the mural, which was a whole community event! Over three days everyone came together to make their mark and contribute to the final artwork. The weather was glorious and the feedback was really positive!

I wanted to drop a line to say thank you so very much for the week we have had, this project has been a long time coming and I am ecstatic with how it’s turned out! I couldn’t be more pleased with how many people got involved, and how all residents, from all backgrounds, seem to find some joy from it, feel some pride over its place in their community, and how it seems to change the tone of the area completely. The power of paint! This atmospheric overhaul wouldn’t have been possible without you guys, so from Groundwork and on behalf of all the Melvillians you met over the last few days – you guys rock and its been an absolute delight.
